We just received these images from our friend in Holland, Pieter van der Aa. Heres a new Avanti under construction, just about ready to get rolled upright. This is design #85, but engineered for cold molded construction. If you recall this same builder recently completed building a New York Yacht Club 32. Check out the video here. I expect this new boat will be just as nice. Thanks for sending these.

We continue to receive a lot of inquiries about the S&S 30 asking about the status regarding production. We are pleased to report that the hull tooling is complete and the deck tooling is nearing completion as can be seen by the image above. We are still targeting having a boat on the water in time for the fall boat shows.
For plans, additional images, specifications and project history, please visit the Sparkman & Stephens 30 website at www.sparkmanstephens.com/ss30. Also multiple postings can be found within these pages by doing a search for S&S 30 in the search field above.
Offered at $149,000, sail away price.

TC Vessel Registration Update
A few weeks ago I wrote about the new regulations from Transport Canada regarding the registration of canoes & kayaks. Well, it seems that they have backpedaled (back paddled?) just a bit from the earlier registration requirements.

Note: Transport Canada is currently reviewing the Vessel Registration and Tonnage Regulations for human-powered non-pleasure vessels and examining the feasibility of exemptions for certain groups, so that registration is sensible, efficient and fair for all Canadian boaters. So, it would seem that everything is on hold for the moment until they get things sorted out. It looks like the efforts of Ralph, Alan, and numerous other folks at the forums of MyCCR.com and WestCoastPaddler.com have been effective in bringing this issue and their concerns to the fore. They seem to have gotten the attention of not only the media, but also the Minister of Transportation. However, that doesnt mean that the issue is done with, not yet.
